On January 29, 2022, American Intercon School committee from all campuses arranged a 147th study tour for all students in grade 10 to Phnom Chheu Kach and Wat Vihear Thom in Chheu Kach commune, Ba Phnom District, Prey Veng Province.
This program was a rare opportunity for students to gain a lot of knowledge in addition to the lessons in the class such as exploring the historical location of Norkor Phnom in the first century which was related to the origin of the Khmer Empire and linked to the history curriculum. In addition, they learned about the historical sites associated with Phnom Chheu Kach, which has a famous history since ancient times, and explored the pagoda sites that are related to the history of the place of the characters in Tum Teav novel. Moreover, it is linked to educational programs, literature, understanding of daily activities, living standards, and hard work of farmers in rural areas.
In the middle and around the top of a mountain, a forest stretches over a large area of agricultural land in Prey Veng province. Students learnt more about historical stories and events by connecting them to real-life historical sites, natural resources, cultural resources, and tourism.
In short, students gained a lot of new knowledge from participating in the study tour to Phnom Chheu Kach and Wat Vihear Thom, and they also felt refreshed while visiting there, as well as when returning home.
